QEH Annual Dinner – 11 November 2017

From QEHOBS:

Clive Dash has asked me to remind you to save the date in your diary for the Annual Dinner on 11 November 2017 and the conducted tour around the School in the afternoon of the same day. He has highlighted some important changes for the Dinner this year compared with previous years. The dinner is usually a sell-out, so a prompt decision is advised. Clive is also hoping to get accommodation on Saturday night at a reduced rate at Berkeley Square Hotel, so will need to know if you require accommodation there ASAP.

119th Old Boys’ Society Dinner

We warmly invite you to the 119th Old Boys’ Society Dinner on Saturday 11 November at 7:30pm, QEH, School Dining Room. It promises to be a great evening offering an opportunity for Old Elizabethans, current and former staff, to spend time with old school friends from years ago. We encourage you to book now and even book a table with your Year group. This year the 1977 leavers are planning to get people together to celebrate their 40th reunion, the 1967 Leavers and Starters will be celebrating a special fiftieth anniversary, whilst 1992 Leavers and Starters are celebrating 25 years. So why not come along and catch up with old friends.

Tickets are £39.00 each and application should be made to me using the slip below. If you have any queries, then please do get in touch with me on 0117 930 3086 or fledger@qehbristol.co.uk I very much look forward to hearing from you.
If you’d like to take a look around School to see the changes that have taken place come along earlier in the afternoon at 3:00 pm on the 11th when Steve Ryan (former Deputy Head) has offered to give old boys a guided tour. There will be refreshments of tea and cake available.

Bristol City Game 3 November – Mini Get-Together

From David Dibb:

Hello chaps,

I’m so glad that our special 50th Anniversary Celebratory day went so well; thanks for your positive feedback.

Our next mini get-together could be at the forthcoming Bristol City v Wolves match on Tuesday 3rd November.

Perhaps meet up before the game around 5.30pm for a pub snack, watch the match and possibly meet up after as well.

However, as there is limited availability this season because of the stadium developments, we wouldn’t be able to sit together and anyone interested would need to get themselves a ticket.

Anyway, let me know if you’re interested and then we can set a venue for a pre-match meal somewhere near the ground.

All good wishes
David

50 Years!

In attendance were: Roy Schwartz, David Dibb, Simon Huguet, Mark Tarsey, Colin Griffiths,  Stephen Harris, Martin Harris, John Hall, John Cordon, Chris Parker, John Essex, Steve Brandes, Dave Bowery (Happy Birthday!), Steve Mansbridge, Richard Popplestone and Martyn Dadds. Andrew Lewis-Barned and Debbie White hosted us at the school, and Ted and Alexia Young were also on hand to remind us what had changed.

‘425’ London Dinner at The East India Club, Friday 26 June 2015

From the school:

11 March 2015

Dear OE,
‘425’ London Dinner at The East India Club, Friday 26 June 2015

We warmly invite you (and partner) to our very special ‘425’ London Dinner on Friday 26 June 2015 at The East India Club, St James’s. We have booked private dining facilities at the club at £60 per head (only £35 for current university students). The three course meal will be classic English.

Our Guest of Honour will be Mr David Bateson (Deputy Headmaster, Pastoral) who is giving his Valedictory Speech after 33 years teaching at the school. We also welcome Mr Matt Marrs (2004-2011) as Guest Speaker.

Our Bristol ‘425’ Dinner was a sell-out so we encourage you to book early, and to arrange a table with your Year group especially if it is an anniversary year. We’ll happily help you to track down other members of your Year group. For example, 1965 Leavers and Starters are celebrating a special fiftieth anniversary, whilst 1990 Leavers and Starters are celebrating 25 years, and so on.

If you have any queries, please get in touch with me – 0117 930 3086 or qehdevelopment@qehbristol.co.uk .

Yours sincerely

50th Anniversary Reunion – 12 September 2015

The School has agreed in principle to a tour of the school on the afternoon of 12 Sep. There are, of course, no boarders nowadays, so the school is normally closed at weekends. It’s very kind of them to even consider us.

The proposal for the day is:

1200: Narrow Boat Cruise on the Avon – lunch
1600: Tour of the school – afternoon tea?
1900: Dinner in local restaurant

The list of “65ers” that we know about is on the Roll Call page. (You need to be registered and logged-in to see this page.) To register, please go to the Registration page.

Here’s hoping we get a big turn-out in September!
